I liked the design, its antique nature, size of the room

Airconditioner was not working. No shower cap I had to request the shower cap. No bed side lamp. Breakfast time was not adhered to, it was indicated that breakfast start at 7am, but staff and food available at 7h20. No hot milk even at the time.

  • Older travelers

The hotel is an absolute gem in a now impoverished part of town. Great atmosphere and period 'feel'. Really appreciated the free upgrade to a suite.

No permanent bar. The hotel should invest in bringing the area to life

  • Older travelers

The hotel was conveniently situated for our purposes and the room was extremely comfortable and well appointed.

The situation of the hotel was reasonably noisy at night and unfortunately there was a large delegation from a political party who were coming and going all night. We did not feel that as a 4 star hotel it provided what we would expect eg. No ladies bar

  • Older travelers

    Only stayed one night

I did not like the location. It was too close to that African Jazz club with the pub across the road and there were many people walking around drunk. This left us feeling it was not a safe location.

  • Group of friends

Great renovated rooms with some old charm. Very comfortable and well proportioned rooms.

My room faced onto the nightclub across the road which was a little noisy on Friday and Saturday night but not a major issue. Breakfast dining was a little confusing on one of the days.

  • Couple

The service and the breakfasts were great.

  • Single

    Historical building and setting

Services - lack of barfridge, late nite services

  • Older travelers

Arranging free hotel transport to the Neil Diamond show - very thoughtful for the out of towners

I had a suite with two balconies, though only one had any furniture. The bed was extremely comfortable and the large shower cubicle was very good. Free transport to and from the airport was a bonus as was free internet access, though this was only available when the Business Centre was free.

Its hard to describe this hotel, its definitely unusual & I feel they are striving for the luxury market but not attaining that standard. Lots of small things lets it down. Its been refurbished but I feel its been done as cheaply as possible. The windows wont open as they've been painted up (though the french doors did open). In a 3 room suite there was only one bin - in the bathroom. Although toileteries were provided in abundance there were no tissues. A fridge in the sitting room would have been nice. There were dirty finger marks on the door frames and the toilet looked as if it could do with some bleach. On the Friday morning the breakfast buffet was poor and the waiting staff looked slovenly but on the Saturday morning (when the hotel appeared to be full) the buffet was better & the waitresses dressed smartly - why not be like that all the time? When I arrived I was told (not by the hotel) that the area outside was too dangerous to go out, which was very disconcerting! Actually, although it was rough it wasn't as bad as I'd feared!

    sea view

Having no aircon opening the window above reception is very very noisy

  • Group of friends

Had a little varanda, with a ocean view, was wonderful! Aircon was a nice to have extra. Breakfast was very nice and staff very helpful and friendly. Hotel taxi service went out of their way to take us where we wanted to be and picked us up. Conference facilities wonderful.

Door to the corridor should be more sound proof. Problem with shower making the bathroom floor wet. Would be nice if room had a refridgerator.

  • Older travelers

A lovely Edwardian-era hotel, which has been recently refurbished. From arrival, the staff were ward and courteous. The Valentines night buffet dinner was excellent value.

  • Family with children

The building is very nice, refurbished in some areas, it might have been a very nice hotel.

The location is not so good but we were not able to see where was the best place to stay in PE, so probably this hotel is in a rather good location. Also they say in their description "Wi-fi is available in the entire hotel and is free of charge" and it was not true, only in lobby. No aircon in our room and when you open the window the area is a bit noisy.

  • Older travelers

Room and bathroom newly refurbished, private second floor balcony with a great view over the harbour.

  • Family with children

Did not enjoy the stay, as the lights and the aircon did not work in my room. When I booked online we requested baby cot and transfer to the airport and none of these were met. There was no staff as the doorman was the waiter aswell.
